Chair, IAIS Risk-based Solvency Implementation Forum Actuary, Prudential Authority, South African Reserve Bank
Jooste is an actuary with 20+ years of experience in the South African insurance industry. He is currently working for the South African Prudential Authority, having joined in 2015 to work on the project to transition the insurance framework to a more complete risk-based solvency regime bringing the framework in line with latest international insurance supervision principles. Jooste is a senior policy analyst in the Capital team responsible for policy and capital related analysis of the insurance industry, and more recently, for financial conglomerates.
Before joining the regulator, Jooste worked in industry fulfilling various roles from system and product development to stochastic modelling and balance sheet management.
Jooste is passionate about helping others and providing guidance to understand insurance and actuarial matters better. He is a long-standing member of the CSFWG representing South Africa in the development of the ICS and is also the chair of the RBSIF that aims to develop guidance for EMDEs about the journey to transition to an RBS regime.
Jooste is a fellow of the Actuarial Society of South Africa and a fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries UK. He enjoys playing and watching sports.
