Manuela Zweimueller joined the IAIS Secretariat on 1 January 2020. She is the Head of Implementation and a member of the Senior Management Team. Most recently, she was the IAIS’ Head of Supervisory Practices where she led the organisation’s efforts in supervisory practices, infrastructure investments, LIBOR and Covid-19 measures. In addition, she is responsible for the implementation and assessment of supervisory materials, in particular, those relating to ComFrame andthe Holistic Framework for mitigating systemic risk, which are key focus areas under the IAIS 2020-2024 Strategic Plan.
Manuela has a breadth of experience in insurance, pension and consumer protection policy development as well as insurance supervision. Prior to joining the IAIS, she was Head of the Policy Department at the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA). She also worked for more than 15 years in the (re)insurance industry and held various senior leadership roles, overseeing areas such as enterprise and emerging risk management, corporate governance and innovative technologies, including green technology, sustainable finance, disaster scenarios, protection gap, cyber risk, terrorism exposure and money laundering.
Manuela holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Munich, Germany. In addition, she holds a certificate in Business Administration and Operational Management from the University of Hagen, Germany.
